
The Korean soprano Celine Mun was born in Seoul, South Korea.
Mun completed her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance at Yonsei University (2012–2016). She then continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), where she earned her Master’s degree in Opera as well as a postgraduate degree (2019–2023).
She participated in the Verbier Festival Young Artist Program in Switzerland, where she performed in chamber music concerts and art song recitals, and appeared in Hänsel und Gretel. She was awarded the Thierry Mermod Prize, presented to the most promising young singer of the program.
As a Young Artist of Opera for Peace, she has performed in various opera gala concerts in Rome and Paris. She has also appeared in gala concerts at the Musikverein Wien and the Wiener Konzerthaus, performed in Carmina Burana and opera galas at the Palermo Festival in Italy, and sang A. Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire at the Daejeon International Music Festival.
Celine Mun has won several major competitions in Korea and has received prizes at numerous international competitions in Europe and the USA, including the Immling Festival Competition (Germany), the Salvatore Licitra Competition (Italy), the Ada Sari International Vocal Competition (Poland), the Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition (Sweden), and the Premiere Opera Foundation Competition (USA), as well as competitions in France and Lugano.
Her repertoire includes Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Gilda (Rigoletto), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Fiakermilli (Arabella), Musetta (La bohème), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Sophie (Werther) and Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail).
In 2023, she made her house debut at the Wiener Staatsoper and Hamburg Staatsoper.
In the 2025/26 season, she appears as Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte) at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, the Wiener Staatsoper (Kinderoper Die Zauberflöte), and the Seoul Metropolitan Opera, as well as Sophie (Werther) at the Korean National Opera.
Celine Mun is a scholarship artist of the Seah Woonhyung Lee Foundation.
